Ad Watch: McCain

McCain released his first ad of the general election today. The ad will air in the key battle ground state of New Mexico. The ad's focus is on patriotism, which is implied to mean blindly supporting the continuation of the War in Iraq because to do otherwise would mean surrender and cowardice. Ek!

gross...this is the same rhetoric that got us into this stupid war...and though its inevitable that McCain will use his POW exp. to bolster support, it just seems wrong to me...blind patriotism is ignorance and not what America was originally built on...if the founding fathers adopted this idea there would be no America for americans to vote for and American President in...it is the least American view one could take, in my opinion...so repeating the word America over and over in an attempt to subconsciously invoke some patriotic conscious is as stupid as anyone who buys this bullshit...unfortunately it will probably be pretty effective...i think the Dems need to aggressively (and that is the key word here) address how this very tactic was used to dupe Americans into supporting this war built on lies in the first place...how this is one of those lies or misrepresentations that this war was built on

couldn't agree more. this is the EXACT same rhetoric that got us where we are in Iraq. It's scary to think how effective it has been in the past and the potential it has to be effective in the future. it seems less and less people are buying into such nonsense, but a solid chunk of the country goes on disillusioned. wake up and smell the coffee America! patriotism in a democracy should entail informing yourself on the issues that our country is engaged in and making a thought out decision with the long term interest of the country in mind, not blindly supporting bullshit wars.
